It's Never Out There

No one can cause us to feel anything. They can only flip the light switch that exposes how we feel about ourselves. As tempting as it is to blame the outside world, the urge is a wasted opportunity. When an unwanted feeling arises, the most beneficial thing we can do for ourselves and our relationships is to realize that our own self-judgment or fears have been activated. Otherwise, we’d have compassion for their clumsiness in speech or insensitivity in action. We might not want to be around them, but we wouldn’t get so triggered. Rather then lash out, we can acknowledge our feelings, mentally thank that person for enlightening us and then go within and…

Feel it to heal it.
