Our Constructed Selves
Egos want to be the top dog whenever possible. The more we relate from this ‘constructed self’, the more likely we are to unconsciously try to gain control over others. Some common strategies include: Using aloofness to get others to draw us out, teasing to make others squirm, criticizing to cause shame or blaming others for how we feel. If we catch ourselves manipulating in any of these ways, we’re not bad, we just need to realize that this ‘self’ isn’t real. Our True Self sees and treats everyone…
As equal.
