Whether we’re hopeful about the world or view it as a sinking ship, our attitude tells us more about ourselves than about what’s going on out there. If life seems good, we’re likely in the habit of looking for the upside. If it looks gloomy, we’ve probably been consuming a steady diet of selective information about what has, is or eventually will go wrong.
