What and How We Hear

We often selectively hear what others say. Even when we do truly listen, we can misunderstand their meaning. That’s because we hear through our own filters. Since we haven’t traveled the same roads, had the same joys, challenges or heartaches, we simply can’t see the world in the same way. It’s only when we forge a deeper connection of concern and empathy for others that we can acknowledge and accept their legitimate right to have whatever opinions their life has lead them to hold…

Connection breeds tolerance.
