Face It Head On
When something happens that breaks our hearts or traumatizes us, it takes time to heal. Distracting ourselves with continuous activity or jumping into new relationships often just delays the healing process and can end up making us feel even worse. Sometimes it’s too difficult to face the feelings without some time and distance, but locking ourselves into an extended distraction isn’t the answer. That only prevents us from really dealing and ensures that our (unfelt) pain taints everything. In the end, the best shortcut is actually doing the work of facing our feelings…
Head on.
