Service Verses Co-Dependency
The desire to ‘take care’ of another person requires another person to be ‘in need’ of care. While caretaking is a noble career path, in relationships it’s usually a co-dependent tactic designed (subconsciously) to create a power imbalance in favor of the caretaker. While service might be thought of as somewhat demeaning as a career, in relationships, it exalts the other. Our motivation makes all the difference. Do we need to feel the other ‘needs’ us to thrive? Or do we thrive and delight in serving our beloved? Co-dependency is unhealthy. Service, is on the path…
