There’s clear benefit to practicing something over a long period of time. We can develop subtlety, expertise and can eventually discover the true art of it. But hazards arise with repetition unless we maintain ‘beginner’s mind’. When we become really good at something, we can miss new insights because of our well-established expectations. Our minds don’t try to figure out alternative angles of approach since it already ‘knows’ what to do. That’s why masters constantly experiment with their technique. They understand that when we know everything, we stagnate; when we try new things…
We evolve.
