Our minds have a powerful effect on our bodies. We can make ourselves sick and we can heal ourselves. Habitually entertaining stressful thoughts is detrimental to our immune system. If we reflect back on the contents of our mind, just prior to getting sick, we often find a pattern of anxious, fearful or angry thoughts. This in no way suggests that we are to blame for our sickness.
