When others say something we strongly disagree with, it can engender a desire to disconnect from them. We might begin cataloguing the various ways in which they are wrong about other things, too. What we forget in this ego strategy is that we have far more in common with each other than the differences that separate us. Remembering that our beliefs (and theirs) come from our particular programming enables us to recognize that none of us are simply the sum of our beliefs. We may look different from the outside but, inside, we’re all made of the same stuff…
