Fortunately for us, there is not necessarily a conflict between being happy and healthy and wanting to promote justice for ourselves and our neighbors. Actually, I find the effort to improve a rough situation is a great affirmation, which boosts my happiness and health. Of course, my happiness and health is a prerequisite for my continuing to care for others. If we are careful about the company we keep, I think that reaching out to address the needs of others is very healthy. Associated with reaching out to others, there is a great deal of ambient negativity, and to be sure we must not participate in that.
