There’s an instant¬†after anything happens in which we choose, whether consciously or unconsciously, how we’ll react to it. When we’re unconscious, we simply respond automatically from our conditioning. If we’re conscious, we can choose to remain equanimous. This is the most rational response to unexpected events, since nothing is either good or bad until we label it so. Developing conscious awareness prevents us from automatically having negative reactions to things that could turn out to be neutral…
